If you like funny and romance you should read this book. Once Upon a Marigold was a terrific book. So check that out if you read this one and like it. I know I loved it and right now im reading Twice Upon A Marigold. It is a fairy tale and there are some pretty funny things in this book. This book also has a little bit of romance in it.
My favorite part is when the main characters exchange correspondence through "Pmail" by pigeon carriers. This book, "Once Upon a Marigold" is original and entertaining for kids AND adults.
If you love fairy-tales, this is a must read. I can almost believe that somewhere, Marigold and Christian are out there. :) This is one of my favorite fantasy/ fairy-tale books ever. This book is hilarious and witty, and whenever I read it I can't put it down.
Enjoy. It's so hard to find good children's books anymore. But this one was great.
Christian has been spying on a Marigold, a princess through a telescope. Marigold is getting married to a suitor named Sur Magnus. Christian a young boy runs away from his parents and now Christian lives in a cave with a troll (now his dad) named Edric(Ed). Christian goes out to explore the world and finds a job at the castle as a server. Once Upon a Marigold is a fantasy where two people fall in love.
I think you'll like it a lot.By: Emma S. I recommend this book. Christian over hears the queen's evil plot to destroy Marigold and King Swithbert and take over the kingdom and have it all to herself. I can't tell you the rest or else you'll know the end of the book and not read it. and Christian becomes Marigold's best friend. Christian tells Marigold her own mother's plot to destroy her and her father to rule the kingdom. The paper is kept in a cylinder on the leg of the dove and sent). Marigold tries to save him, but she gets put in the dungeon because her mother forbids her to go see him, but she did.
This story takes place in a forest and in King Swithbert's castle. Christian gets thrown in the dungeon being accused of trying to take over the castle; Ed gets thrown into the dungeon as well. Christian keeps in touch with Marigold by p-mail (Letters carried on dove's legs. He promises her that he will never lie to her.
